Design, Consulting and Repair for Texas Low-Voltage Systems
Two kinds of work sit under this heading, and they usually arrive at different points in a building’s life. The first is design and consulting: working out what a system should be before anyone orders hardware. The second is repair: taking a system that already exists, often one Kingsedco did not install, and making it work again.
Design and consulting before hardware is ordered
Most low-voltage problems are decided long before installation. Device counts, door hardware compatibility, pathway and conduit routing, power budgets, network requirements, camera placement and retention, and the interfaces between separate systems all get fixed early, and they are expensive to revisit once walls close. Design and consulting means putting those decisions on paper first: an opening-by-opening review, a device and pathway scope, and a specification a general or electrical contractor can build to.
That work looks different by market. Dallas-Fort Worth corporate campuses and distribution developments tend to be phased, so a design has to anticipate the next building rather than only the one under construction. Austin technology and semiconductor projects run on compressed schedules with restricted areas that field crews cannot simply walk into, which pushes more decisions upstream. Houston plant and Ship Channel work brings classified areas, corrosion exposure, and coordination with process and safety systems that a generic security drawing set does not account for. San Antonio healthcare and government facilities carry their own review standards, and a design that ignores them is rejected at review rather than at commissioning.
Repairing what is already installed
The other half is remediation. Buildings change hands, contractors move on, and the system left behind is frequently undocumented, partially abandoned, or a mix of equipment from several eras that no longer communicates cleanly. This is deliberately broader than break-fix on one device.
